Etcetera for Men
Category: wayne shorter vinyl
This quartet session from 1965 has long been considered one of Wayne's finest studio albums, even though it remained unreleased until 1980. The band features Cecil McBee (bass), Joe Chambers (drums), Herbie Hancock (piano), and Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone). Etcetera, recorded on June 14, 1965 at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, is one of the true highlights of the Shorter discography, featuring all Shorter compositions, with the exception of Gil Evan's passionate Barracudas. Wayne's Indian Song takes its place as one of Shorter's most intensely hypnotizing compositions.
Blue Note Records' Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analog, mastered-from-the-original-master-tape 180g audiophile vinyl reissues in deluxe gatefold packaging. Mastering is by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio), and the vinyl is manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI). This limited 180gm vinyl LP pressing was not released on Blue Note until 1980.
